Registration and Fees
There will be an Open House for the 2023-2024 School Year on Tuesday, January 24th, 2023 at 6:00pm. To sign up, visit the home page and see the open house registration tab where you can submit your email address to receive the meeting details. We look forward to seeing you there!
The Preliminary Registration Application will go live on Sunday, February 5th at 9:00am until Sunday February 12th at 9:00am for the 2023-2024 School Year. The Preliminary Application should only take a few minutes to complete. Returning families must also register for the 2023-2024 School Year.
Please note, the registration completion process has changed from previous years due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the need to limit in-person meetings. Details are posted below.
How to Register
1. Complete the Preliminary Application.
We have removed all but the basic information to submit the Preliminary Application so this should take only a few minutes to complete.
Thoroughly visit our Prospective Parents page to read our Before You Register information well in advance so you will be ready!
This Preliminary Application is date/time stamped and establishes your place in the registration line. Applicants will be informed shortly after the Preliminary Application period ends as to a position in a class or on the wait-list.
2. Complete Detailed Application.
If you have been given a conditional spot in a class, you will be sent an email containing the Detailed Application link and information about the Registration Completion Night
- On the Detailed Application form you will be asked to re-enter basic information about your child, i.e. Name; Date of Birth; Address (including postal code). This information should be consistent with your Preliminary Application but now is the time and opportunity to correct any errors. You will also be asked to confirm the class selection that you have been assigned – do not select any other class!
- You will be asked to provide Health Information (any allergies; immunizations up-to-date; medical conditions or special needs) and any other specific information that teachers and caregivers need to know.
- You will also be asked to provide detailed contact information for you, another parent or guardian and for your emergency contacts. Please note, you must have two emergency contacts who reside in the Calgary area. If one parent/guardian does not reside in the Calgary area or is not able to respond to emergencies, then a suitable alternate will have to be named. Please ensure you have all information on hand, including full names, phone numbers, and addresses with postal codes, before you begin.
- You will also be required to address some critical policies, waivers and agreements. Please read these carefully. In some cases, these are not optional as they are required to ensure the safe and efficient operation of Rosedale Playschool. Others allow disagreement as the there may be limited situations in which it is appropriate to allow exceptions. However, if you disagree with the contents of a policy, waiver or agreement and Rosedale Playschool determines that so doing imposes an undue administrative burden on the society, its staff, volunteers, parents or students then this may result in your application being declined.
3. Registration Completion Night.
This year, registration completion will happen differently. Proof of age will take place closer to the start of the 2023 school year and will likely coincide with orientation. The registration fee of $75 must be received by March 17th in order to confirm your child’s spot in the class otherwise the spot could be given to the next child on the waitlist. Please ensure adequate time for mail delivery if mailing a cheque. The fee can be sent via EFT to the Treasurer or by dropping off/mailing a cheque to the school. Please include the child’s name in the message/memo portion the EFT/cheque. Tuition can be paid using the following options:
- EFT: Bi-annual or annual payments only (no monthly option available for EFT)
- Post Dated Cheque: monthly, bi-annual or annual payments.
Please DO NOT combine the $75 registration fee and the tuition on the same cheque or EFT.
Any outstanding issues with your detailed application will be addressed at that time. Bring extra cheques in case you need to rewrite any of them. (If there are no further issues, after you attend cheque drop-off night you are registered – congratulations!)
After You Register
The volunteer roles assignment will happen online after the board elections in April. The roles will be handed out on a first come first served basis and filled roles will be removed as a choice.
Get your Vulnerable Sector Police Information Checks done. See Police Records Check below.
Approximately a month before class we will ask you to fill out a further form about your child’s personality and fears, as children can change a lot from February to August. You will also be given a welcome package with a handbook via email.
If your child was not potty trained at the time of registration be sure to work on this so that your child is fully toilet trained prior to starting school.
Fees and Tuition for 2023/2024 School Year
Rosedale Playschool is a fully licensed preschool and as such families are eligible for government subsidy. The rates below INCLUDE the universal $75 monthly credit. This is a flat rate per child and you do not need to apply for it. There is an additional subsidy available to eligible families with a household income of less than $180,000. Approved families will receive an additional $125 reduction in fees per month. You must apply for this additional child care subsidy and can find information here: https://www.alberta.ca/child-care-subsidy.aspx.
Please make all cheques payable to ‘Rosedale Playschool Society’, indicate the student’s name in the memo section, and place in a sealed envelope.
Registration Fee – $75 This is a one time fee and only required when you have been given a space in the school. The fee is per child. It is NON-REFUNDABLE and must be received by March 19th 2021 via EFT to the Treasurer or by dropping/mailing a cheque to the school.

Other Class Limitations
Children must be potty trained to enter school, if there are issues of a medical nature related to this, please contact us.
There is limited space in each class for children with aides, as we only have so much room for adults in addition to our teachers, student teacher, and parent volunteer. Occasionally, we can consolidate aids within the classroom to reduce the number of adults and we offer an additional office space for one-on-one therapies, so that the students can work quietly with their aids.
Volunteer Roles
All families require a Volunteer Role and are required to fulfill it. Please see the Volunteer Page for more information. Your volunteer role will be chosen after you have a space in the class and board elections in April.
Police Records Check
Parents, grandparents, caregivers, etc. are all eligible to volunteer at Rosedale Playschool, however, each volunteer must submit a Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check to Rosedale Playschool before volunteering in the class. We require the police information check to be performed the first year of enrollment and thereafter as required for new volunteers. The police information check is valid for 5 years.
You can apply for your Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check online (recommended) or in person. After registration, you will be given the Rosedale School Police Check Request Letter for the parents/guardians named on your Detailed Application. You will need this letter to request a police information check.
If you need a letter for someone other than the named parents/guardians, this can be provided upon request at the cheque drop-off night or at anytime by email. The police information check needs to be given to the school before your first Lucky Duck Day in the month of September. More detailed information about Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check requirements and procedures will be provided by email after registration is complete.
Withdrawal Policy
A child may withdraw from Rosedale Playschool by giving written notice to the Registrar stating the effective date of withdrawal, i.e. the last day that their child will be attending. After it is given the notice is irrevocable unless approved by the Registrar. Provided that:
- the notice is given at least 30 days prior to the effective date;
- the notice is given on or before the first day of March; and
- the effective date is before the first day of April.
a prorated refund will be given for the remaining full months of membership following the effective date. All other fees, dues and contributions are non-refundable.
For example, if you want your child’s last day to be November 30, then notice needs to be given on or before October 31st, to get a full refund of December’s fees. If notice is given November 5th, then the next month’s fees are forfeited (i.e. no December refund).
Cheques and Returned Cheque Fees
Tuition cheques are to be post-dated and made payable to Rosedale Playschool Society. There will be a $25.00 fee for any cheque that is dishonoured or returned uncashed for any reason (e.g. insufficient funds, illegible, mismatched signature, irregularities, etc.). If cheques are written in a colour other than black or blue, the cheques may not be accepted by the bank and a Returned Cheque fee will be charged.
Priority Registration
In the event that there is more interest than spaces available, class spaces are given in the following order and the time stamp of the registration will determine your placing (i.e. you are the 5th Returning Student to register, then you get the 5th place left in your desired class, after the board members):
- Board Members, Staff, and “First in Line” Raffle Ticket Winners from the Open House – First registration priority is given to the seven current board members and Playschool staff. This is only one of the many benefits of being a board member. Please consider choosing it as a volunteer role option if you would like to be involved.
- Returning Students – Students CURRENTLY ENROLLED at Rosedale Playschool in the term only. For example, IF your child is enrolled in our 3 year old program and is moving into our 4 year old program, then they are RETURNING. Younger siblings of returning students are considered Alumni.
- Alumni – These are families that have or had a sibling in the school who is raised in the same household by the same parent(s). There will be an opportunity to identify the alumni sibling when registering. Non-sibling family members (e.g. cousins, nephews, nieces) are not considered Alumni.
